Cannova Casa opens door for Canna as houseplant

Grower, young plant producer and seed breeder work together on a pilot project and introduce Cannova Casa. The new Canna concept brings Mediterranean charm to home and beyond.

Can garden plant Canna be kept as a houseplant? BB Plant, Beekenkamp and Takii put it to the test, involved the Post Harvest Knowledge Center at Royal FloraHolland for independent research and consulted consumers and chain partners to assess the feasibility as a marketing concept.

Two years later, knowing that this specially selected variety thrives indoors and can meet customer needs, the pilot project moves into the next phase with the launch at Waterdrinker.

Ed Mol, Product Developer at Waterdrinker, is enthusiastic about the exclusive availability of Cannova Casa at the Dutch Cash & Carry.

“Cannova Casa is a great houseplant because it has beautiful, warm green-bronze leaves. Tests show that this particular Canna can form buds or even flowers indoors with sufficient light. And outdoors, it blooms all summer long with large peach-coloured flowers. People will appreciate the Mediterranean charm, indoors and out!”
