Senior Breeder

As our Senior Breeder, you will be responsible for the procedural management of the tomato breeding programme and delivering input for the long term vision and strategy of the department. Being an experienced senior breeder, you are able to translate information and market needs into breeding tactics and strategies and discuss the goals of the research programme with the breeding team at TSP and meetings with other departments. You will also be participating in international meetings with other Takii subsidiaries. You are up-to-date with all of the developments within cultivation practices and you ensure that the latest innovations are implemented. You are an inspirational leader for your team, being responsible for setting the goals and managing the correct execution of the breeding activities; as well as guiding and developing your team. You will represent TSP at events, meetings and conferences.

What do we expect of you?

For this position we expect you to have a Masters or university degree (agriculture engineer or biologist) preferably with speciality plant breeding and 10 or more years of relevant experience as a senior breeder. You have good knowledge of vegetable cultivation (especially tomatoes), market and product. Your success will be evident by the number of good varieties you have placed in the market. Your communication and people skills are at a high level, and you are able to negotiate with colleagues at all levels of the organisation and with other associates. Furthermore, you are a solid personality with organizational insight, you are analytically strong; driven, process and result-driven. You possess natural leadership, enabling you to be an inspirational coach for your team. You have good reading, writing and speaking skills in English and excellent knowledge of MS Office and breeding software. Some (international) travel is involved. We would prefer you to live in the Almería area.
